SIZING & FIT
Frequently Asked Questions
What size should I order? Do you run true to size?
Our pants have an athletic, performance fit — built to move with you on the bike, not hang loose. The materials are flexible enough to mould to your leg shape and accommodate knee braces without needing to size up. Use your actual waist measurement and match it against our size guide — that's the most reliable way to get it right the first time. If you're unsure at all, message us before you order and we'll sort it for you.
I'm between sizes — should I go up or down?
Size up. If you're sitting between a 30 and a 32 waist, go the 32. The fit is athletic so you'll get a cleaner, more comfortable ride without restriction.
How does your sizing compare to gear I already own?
Don't rely on what size you wear in another brand — cut, fit, and waist labelling vary enough between manufacturers to get you into trouble. Measure your waist and chest, check our size guide, and you'll get it right. If you're still not sure, message us before you order.
Where and how do I measure myself?
For pants, measure your natural waist — the narrowest point of your torso, usually just above your hips. Use a soft tape measure and don't pull it tight. Match that number against our size guide which includes waist, hip, and inseam measurements for every size. For jerseys, measure your chest at the widest point and match it to the guide.
Do you offer youth sizing?
YES, Absolutely we do! Youth pants run from size 18 through to 28. Youth jerseys run YXS through to YXL. Use the size guide to match your young rider's waist and chest measurements to the right size — kids' gear sizing can vary a lot so measuring is worth the extra minute.
Im not 100% sure on my size?
Flick us a message before you order. Seriously — that's what we're here for. Getting your size right the first time costs us nothing and saves everyone the hassle of an exchange. Hit us up on Instagram or Facebook, or email us directly at orders@theunderclass.com.au and we'll have you sorted ASAP.
KNEE BRACE COMPATIBILITY
Are the pants compatible with knee braces?
Yes — and this isn't an afterthought. Our pants were specifically built around knee brace compatibility from the ground up. The knee block is wider and the panels are articulated to accommodate both hard frame and soft braces without restricting movement or forcing you into a size up.
Which braces have they been built around?
Our pants have been built around and tested with the following leading brands of soft & hard frame braces:
- Leatt
- Alpinestars
- POD
- Asterisk
- Mobius
Do I size up for braces?
No. That's the whole point. Stay at your true size — the wider knee block and articulated panelling are built to accommodate your braces without you needing to go up a size and end up swimming in the waist. Measure your waist, match it to the size guide, order that size.
MATERIALS, BUILD & CARE
What are the jerseys and pants made from?
Every material in the kit is chosen for a specific job. The jersey main body is a lightweight 125G stretch fabric (83% polyester, 17% spandex) that moves with you and doesn't trap heat — the ventilation panels are a 130G open mesh (90% polyester, 10% spandex) that actually breathes in Australian conditions. The pants shell is a 270G mountain fabric (94% polyester, 6% spandex) — tough enough to take a beating, with enough give to move freely on the bike. The stretch panels running down the back of the leg are a 220G lycra (88% nylon, 12% spandex) giving you full range of motion through every corner and jump. Tough where it needs to be, flexible where your body demands it.
How durable is the stitching where it takes a beating — knees, seat, waistband?
The five zones that wear out first on cheap gear — knees, seat, crotch, waistband, and buckle area — are all built heavier. These are the areas we paid specific attention to because that's where most gear fails. The rest of the pant stays lighter and more flexible so you're not carrying dead weight on the bike.
Are the pants pre-washed / will they shrink?
Not pre-washed. Machine wash cold and hang dry — that's all they need. Avoid tumble drying — heat degrades the spandex in the stretch panels over time and will shorten the life of the fit and flexibility of the garment
How does the gear move — stretch panels, breathability, weight?
Yes — both. The jersey is a dual-fabric construction — a stretch main body (17% spandex) paired with open mesh ventilation panels (10% spandex) — so it moves with you rather than against you. The pants feature 220G lycra stretch panels (88% nylon, 12% spandex) running down the back of the leg, giving you full range of motion through every corner, jump, and body position on the bike. No rigid panels, no dead zones, no gear fighting your movement.
How do I wash it? Will the colours fade? Can I tumble dry?
Machine wash cold, hang dry — both jersey and pants. The graphics are sublimated directly into the fabric, not printed on top, so the colour won't crack or peel with correct washing. Tumble drying is the one thing that will shorten the life of the gear — the heat breaks down the spandex content in the stretch and lycra zones over time. Cold wash, hang dry, and the kit will last.
VALUE & PRICE
Why does your gear cost what it does? Where does my money actually go?
The adult kit is $339.99. The youth kit is $274.99. Here's exactly where that money goes — performance materials tested by real riders, construction built around what riders actually need on the bike, and a portion that directly funds the next generation of privateers and grassroots events keeping the sport alive. There's no retail store markup, no celebrity athlete endorsement tax, no shareholder dividend buried in the price. What you pay is what it costs to build the gear properly and keep the mission running. That's it.
I've never heard of Underclass — is it worth $339?
Fair question. Underclass was founded by Charlie Creech — 15 years a self-funded privateer, covered every race entry, every fuel bill, and every gear set out of his own pocket while working as a plasterer through the week. Never a factory rider. Never handed anything. He built The Underclass because he was sick of paying big brand prices for gear that stopped listening to riders the day it got bought by an investment firm. Every design decision has come from inside the sport, not a boardroom. Whether it's worth $339 is something you'll decide the first time you ride in it — but it's built by prople who live exactly the way you are.
Is the quality up to scratch with the big brands?
Some of the big brands charge $500+ for a set of gear. A portion of that price is genuine product cost — and a portion is retail margin, marketing spend, and the return demanded by the investment firm that owns them. We're not going to tell you their gear is bad. What we will tell you is ours is built to perform at the price we charge, using materials chosen by riders for riders, reinforced where it actually matters, and tested before it ever goes on sale to the public. Ride it and judge for yourself — and if the size isn't right, we'll swap it free.
How does buying actually support the sport?
Every kit sold directly funds the continuous development of our products that are build by our community of riders nationwide, as well as goes towards our sponsorship of junior and privateer riders and the grassroots events that keep competitive MX alive in Australia and New Zealand. The big brands redirect profit to shareholders who've never ridden a lap. Ours goes back into the sport. When you buy an Underclass kit, you're not just a customer — you're part of something that's actively backing the sport and the next generation of riders who are doing it the hard way, just like Charlie did.
RETURNS & EXCHANGES
Can I exchange for a different size?
Yes — free size exchanges, no drama. If the size isn't right, we'll swap it. Send the gear back unworn and unwashed in its original condition and we'll get the right size out to you. One thing worth knowing — message us before you order and we'll get your size right the first time, saving you the wait entirely.
Do I pay return shipping?
You cover the cost of sending the gear back to us. We cover the shipping on the replacement going back out to you. The easiest way to avoid it altogether — message us before you order with your measurements and we'll sort your size before anything gets shipped.
Will I get a refund or store credit?
For change of mind and sizing returns we'll issue store credit first. If that doesn't work for you, get in touch and we'll work it out. For faulty or defective items your consumer rights under Australian Consumer Law apply — full stop.
Can I return gear that's been washed or worn?
No. Returns and exchanges are accepted on unworn, unwashed gear in original condition only. This is why we push hard on getting your size right before you order — message us first, ride in the right kit, no returns needed.
How long does an exchange/refund take?
Once we receive the returned gear, allow 5–7 days for your exchange to be processed and dispatched or your store credit to be issued. We'll keep you updated along the way.

SPONSORSHIP & AMBASSADORS
Do you sponsor riders?
Yes — and it's one of the things we take seriously. Backing riders is core to what The Underclass is built on. Charlie spent 15 years as a self-funded privateer covering every race himself — we built this brand partly because real riders deserve real support. Our sponsorship program supports junior and privateer riders across Australia and New Zealand with discounted gear, exposure, exclusive ambassador opportunities & benefits and increasingly, financial support through our Contingency program launching in 2027.
How do I apply?
Applications are submitted through our official sponsorship form — you can find it here. We review every application personally. Don't slide into the DMs — submissions through the form are the only ones that get considered. Our 2027 program tiers are currently being finalised, so if you apply now you'll be assessed against the new structure when it opens.
What do you look for?
Three things — and results alone won't cut it.
- On the bike. Your race history, results, and the discipline you compete in. We back riders who are genuinely in the sport, not just wearing gear for photos.
- In the community. How you represent yourself and the sport. We're building a community, not a roster — character matters as much as lap times.
- Content and reach. Your social presence, the content you create, and the audience you have. Sponsored riders are part of how we tell the Underclass story — we need to see that you can help carry it.
What you get in return — depending on your tier — includes discounted or free product, early access to pre-orders and new releases, exclusive product testing and development opportunities, sublimated custom gear, exposure across Underclass social channels, and the potential to earn bonus prize money through our upcoming Contingency program rolling out in 2027.
WHOLESALE / STOCKISTS
Are you stocked at any shops?
Yes — you can find Underclass gear at the following stores:
Western Australia
- Southwest Yamaha
- 5 Star Yamaha
New Zealand
- Workshop Graphics (Westgate, Auckland) — our official NZ distributor
If you're not near one of these locations, you can order directly through our website with tracked shipping Australia-wide and to New Zealand.
How do I become a stockist?
Send Charlie an email at charlie@theunderclass.com.au with a bit of detail about your store — location, what you currently stock, and why Underclass is a fit for your customer base. We're actively expanding our stockist network across Australia and New Zealand and we're straightforward to deal with. If it makes sense for both sides, we'll make it work.
ABOUT THE UNDERCLASS
Who's behind the brand? Are you actually riders?
Yes — and that's not a marketing line. The Underclass was founded by Charlie, a self-funded privateer who spent 15 years covering every race entry, every fuel bill, and every gear set out of his own pocket while working as a plasterer through the week. Never a factory ride. Never handed anything. He built the gear he always wanted and couldn't find — because the brands that should have been making it got bought by investment firms and stopped listening to the people actually riding.
Josh runs design, content, and marketing — and is an active rider too. This isn't a business built by people who googled "motocross market opportunity."
And as we continue to expand long into the future, we will continue to ensure it's built by people who have lived it.
Are you an Australian brand?
100%. Founded in Western Australia, rider-owned, and trademarked in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. We're not a drop-shipping operation or an offshore label slapping a logo on generic gear. Every design decision is made by riders in Australia, for the riders who actually use it.
Where is the gear made?
Designed in Australia by riders. Manufactured by a specialist performance sportswear partner in China. We own that answer — the same way every major MX brand in the world manufactures offshore. The difference is we're not charging you $500 and pretending otherwise. What matters is who designs it, who tests it, and who stands behind it. That's us.
Will you restock sold-out colourways?
It really depends on the colourway & the demand from teh riders. Some are limited runs — once they're gone, they're gone. Others get restocked based on demand. The best way to know is to hit the back-in-stock notification on the product page and you'll be the first to hear when it's coming back. Don't sit on it if you see your size — if it's a limited run, waiting usually means missing out.
Do you have a store / can I try gear on?
No physical store as of this current point in time — we're online only. But our size guide and free exchange policy exist specifically to solve that problem. Measure up against the size guide, and if it's not right we'll swap it free. Still not sure? Message us before you order with your measurements and we'll tell you exactly what to get. We'd rather spend two minutes helping you get the right size than deal with an exchange on both ends.
